Expert Rating

8.0/10

Pros

Big display size, massive battery, smooth refresh rate, expandable storage

Cons

LCD panel only, weak selfie camera, no OIS, average performance

Verdict

Xiaomi Redmi 15 is focused on users who want a large screen and long battery life at an affordable price. The 6.9-inch display is great for media consumption, and the 144Hz refresh rate adds smoothness to daily usage. The 7000mAh battery easily lasts more than a day, making it ideal for heavy users. However, the LCD panel lacks the punch of AMOLED displays seen in competitors, and performance is just average for gaming. The camera setup is basic, especially the front camera. Overall, it's a good option for multimedia and battery-focused users.

Questions and Answers

The Redmi 15 5G’s standout features are: the segment’s largest 7,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery that stays slim despite the huge capacity, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor (only 5G phone in its segment with Snapdragon), a 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD with 144Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, 18W reverse charging support (best in segment), an aerospace-grade metal camera island, 50MP AI camera with AI Erase and AI Sky features, Dolby Atmos audio with 200% super volume, IP64 protection, and 33W fast charger included in the box. Starts at ₹15,999 for 5G.

Main cons: only 33W charging is slow for a 7,000mAh battery, CPU performance is almost identical to older Redmi models (Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 = similar CPU to 4 Gen 2), video recording is limited to 1080p with no 4K support, no ultrawide camera, average low-light photography, and significant bloatware with pre-installed ads — a known Redmi India issue.

The Redmi 15 5G gets 2 years of Android OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates. It launched on Android 15 with HyperOS 2, so you can expect updates up to Android 17. It’s decent but not as impressive as Samsung A17’s 6-year commitment.
